Tea party audience cheers letting the uninsured die
Quote:The audience Monday night’s CNN Tea Party Express Republican primary debate was eager to see the death of a hypothetical man who was in a coma and also did not have health care insurance.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer posed this question to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul: “A healthy young, 30-year-old man has a good job, makes a good living but decides, ‘You know what? I’m not going to spend $200 or $300 a month on health insurance because I’m healthy, I don’t need it.’ But something terrible happens, all the sudden he needs it. What’s going to happen if he goes into a coma? Who pays for that?”

“What he should do is whatever he wants to do,” Paul replied. “That’s what freedom is all about, taking your own risks. This whole idea that you have to prepare to take care of everybody…”

“Are you saying society should just let him die?” Blitzer asked.

The audience responded with shouts of “Yes!”

Which is why if ANY of the teabaggers gets elected, I'm out of here. I don't think I want to live in a country where there would be a majority of people believing the above posted commentary from Ron Paul. and his ilk, is OK.

Sick mother*@#$@rs

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

A facepalm would not even begin to describe my reaction to reading this.

I guess they've given up on being "compassionate conservatives"?

I posted during the debate last night about that cheering and my brother said, "There is no way that happened". So I posted the youtube. Even Republicans are in denial. Evidently he hadn't watched the debate.

This is very much like the cheers Perry received when he spoke of the death penalty.

These are some very sick individuals. Just when I think I couldn't possibly be more disgusted with the TeaBaggers or the RW as a whole, they do something even further beyond the pale.

I thought these people were "pro life"?

Their pro-life only extends to in utero. Once they are born, the hell with them if it's going to cost money.

Aren't these the same people who wouldn't allow Terri Schiavo to die because they claimed to believe in the sanctity of life?

I guess it only applies when they have a political point to make.

The repubags need a new mascot as someone pointed out last night. Retire the elephant and bring on the vampire bat.

I have to wonder why not one of the candidates had the gumption to say no, he would be taken care of. But they all stood there and let the teabaggers rule. The RNC should have something out there denouncing this.....I won't hold my breath.

This is when Romney should have stepped forward and said, "This is why my Massachusetts-based RomneyCare has it mandated for people to get health insurance. Which is exactly ObamaCare. Ooooops!" Shocked

Cool
