Bring them on and screw the costs. We need jobs and jobs will pay taxes.

There are some very good ideas. I wouldn't expect the PL to get excited about it, however. They'll probably deride it as being too minimal/insufficient and, of course, the Republican Tea Party will almost certainly decry it as being "socialist".

This one confuses me a bit, not the idea itself but the way its being treated rhetorically and operationally.

This could be done *now*. It could have been done a year ago. I think I know what it wasn't done a year ago, which (and I am speculating of course) is that he may have believed he'd need to do it now to provide an extra boost at a time when he wouldn't be able to get anything out of Congress. It's arguable whether had he done it then it would have had the same impact as now.

That aside, I am not quite clear why he's holding that out there as something that needs to be done when Treasury could do it immediately. The money is already there. It just needs to be move around across some ledgers. Geithner is actually very good at this, so he should, imo, get to it.
