It was only a matter of time before they began to eat their own. They started with some of their own republican candidates and are now branching out to religions that, no doubt, actually have a number of tea party supporters in them.

Sounds like what Glen Beck has been saying! A lot of the teabaggers listen to Beck, and spew is insanity. Beck has made numerous comments about religions who don't follow his sick way of thinking, and now it sounds like some of the tea party nuts are pushing his hate!

I always find it amazing that those who claim to be christians, and who would never allow a Mormon to come into their home and try and convert them, would listen to Beck daily, and defend him and his rather weird beliefs! I heard that a lot of what Beck preaches is from some radical member of the Mormon church. Of course a lot of it is Beck's own crazy thinking, but it still is not what those who say they are christians would buy into from any other source!

If the teabaggers are going to go after every other religion that doesn't see things their way, it is going to be interesting to see how the old GOP will handle this since they have been claiming the "christian" voters as their for some time now. They will have to make another choice between their religious base, and the crazy teabagger base! Seems like the teabaggers are going to be a real pain for the republican party for the next two years!

They try to be careful about this because they want the "false Christians" to think that they are "real Christians" so they they will continue to vote GOP.

During the primaries I saw Wolf Blitzer interview James Carville and Ralph Reed. Wolf asked them, in regards to Romney, "Are Mormons Christians".

Carville says YES ... Ralph Reed stutters and stammers like crazy and never answers the question.

My bet is that Beck is being used to make the fundies comfortable voting for Romney in 2012.

Yes, I asked a lot of republicans about the "Mormon" issue back in 2008 during the republican primary, and the majority who "claimed" to be christians, said they could NEVER vote for a Mormon. Others said they weren't sure if they could or not, that they might just stay home if a Mormon was the candidate, and a small number said whoever was the republicans candidate they would vote for them no matter what.

Sure the nut jobs who watch Beck, like those who watch Rush, will do whatever they are told to do by these idiots, but it will be hard for many who think Mormons are a cult to vote for Romney, which would be good for Obama if Romney were to win the nomination.

I for one hope that Beck self destructs before 2012, and has a "meltdown" on TV, goes ballistic and makes some comment that turns off everyone of his listeners! I know it would have to be something really, really off the wall, but I can keep on hoping! Notworthy

I think the corporate leaders of the GOP will ultimately make the call on Beck and Romney. If they conclude that Romney can't win, Beck's value will drop.

If you look at Beck's last Tea party rally, he was like any other Baptist Evangelical. And those people bought it.

They simply are in denial. They know he is a Mormon, but the ones I have talked to about that simply say, "he only joined because of his wife, she wouldn't marry him if the didn't become one"! What they fail to see is that a lot of his rants have Mormon teachings, from some radical mormon guy, and a lot of the "crazy" thinking of Beck himself. I really think he wants his own following like Hitler, or be some kind of religious leader like the other crazies in the past who started their own "cults"!

I have discussed politics with a lot of the "Beckerheads", and the only time they really, really get upset and angry is when you make comments about Beck's sanity, or his motives! It's the same with Rush, when you attack "him" his dittoheads get really, really mad!

In my opinion it has already gone into the "cult" mentality with these guys and the people who follow their every word!

I grew up a Southern Baptist and while many of the members have good, caring hearts, the church just constantly preaches against other faiths and Christian denominations. They will eventually turn on Beck because Mormons are one of the most hated.

Which is also why Mitt Romney will never be the Republican nominee. You can't win the Republican nomination without winning any Southern primaries. The northeastern media pundits who think Romney is a serious candidate don't understand how politically powerful the Southern Baptist church is in some of the primary states.
