We need to stop saying our political system is dysfunctional, when it's the GOP
I know that our President, in an effort to be a good president and develop a sense of bipartisanship, can't really tell it like it is, but we can. Time to stop saying Washington, Congress or our Political System is broken, when the only thing broken is the Republican party. The Republican party that has allowed the Tea Party and Evangelicals to turn it from a political party into an extremist American and freedom hating organization. The Republican party sold its conscience to the highest bidders (the billionaires and big business) and its soul to radical religious extremists in it's bid for party. As a result, the GOP is as dangerous to our nation and our nation's interests as Al-Qaeda was before our President killed their leader OBL.

I agree. Saying "the system" is dysfunctional is IMHO basically perpetuating the "both sides do it" approach that the corporate media takes with political stories. Yeah, sure, we have a few (mostly) worthless Dems but nobody on our side actually participate in nor encourage the kind of dysfunction and chaos that the Republican Party does, at least whenever a Democrat gets elected to the WH.

Absolutely spot on. I was just having this conversation with a Republican friend who repeated the meme that the gov't is broken. I reminded her that it's not the government, it's when people like Bush are put in charge, the purposely sabotage organizations they want to see fail.

I used Brownie in charge of FEMA and Bolton as rep. to the UN. I said I bet you didn't know Brownie had no experience running an emergency organization before, and she said she had never heard of him or the entire situation. I told her all about it but also said to look it up. Then I explained how Bolton had said in the past that the UN should be dismantled, and then Bush put him in charge. Again, she had never heard that. I gave her references to look up the facts and her eyes were opened.

This is the kind of grass roots we need to expose the extremism of the right as an anti-governmental anarchist organization.

Carpe Diem!
