Call me paranoid, but Waukesha County is starting to worry me. Less than 1000 votes have been reported.
Race is close with Dem challenger propped up by Milwaukee so far.
OnEdit: Oh, crap. Waukesha is where that nutjob incompetent is county clerk.

Ed and John Nichols were just talking about this (with the crowd moaning and booing in the background). This is the same county that "found" all those votes for Porsser in the Supreme Court election a few months ago.
If the same thing happens, and what's her face who is in charge there isn't hauled out by her hair roots and strung up in the town square, then I will wonder about the sanity of people who should be looking into this.

Wisc Dem Party accusing Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus of tampe
from: Wisconsin recall elections: Results live blog
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-..._blog.html
-snip-
1:36 A.M.: The AP has called the final race for state Sen. Alberta Darling ®, meaning Democrats cannot win back the state senate. However, Democratic officials are crying foul.
12:32 A.M.: The Wisconsin Democratic Party is accusing Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus of tampering with the election results.
“She is once more tampering with the results of a consequential election and in the next hours we will determine our next course of action,” said party chairman Mike Tate in a statement. “For now, Wisconsin should know that a dark cloud hangs over these important results.” A party spokesman added that “dirty tricks are afoot.”

RE: Right now it looks like we won 1 and will probably win the other 2!
What messes with my head about Waukesha County is that at first I did not recall that this was the place where the controversy had been before. I didn't follow the last time closely, and that woman's name wasn't even at the top of my mind.
I just kept looking at returns, noticed that it was one of the first counties to report anything, and then it just got stuck at one, very small precinct and didn't move. When I posted that it was making me suspicious earlier, it hadn't hit me yet where this place was.
And then it did hit me, and it all made way too damn much sense.
If that woman isn't crooked, she is at the very least grossly incompetent. Either demands she be removed.

that is really something, Roy. it was your saying that, upthread, that caused me to go looking for anything about that county - BEFORE reading your edit.

Dems back off vote-tampering charges
By Larry Sandler

"Though we believe that Sandy Pasch was able to battle Alberta Darling to a virtual tie, on her turf, we will not pursue questions of irregularities. Those heat-of-the-moment statements came in light of the uncertainties that arose from a recent election, known too well," state party Chairman Mike Tate said in a prepared statement early Wednesday morning.

RE: Right now it looks like we won 1 and will probably win the other 2!
Two is certainly not winning the majority, but that was, in a very real sense, a major long shot. Winning the two seats in a recall is an historical victory and it sets the stage for the next election and outlines the work that needs to be done.
So, i think the first thing we need to do is give our thanks to all those folks out in the street that brought us that much closer to taking the state legislature. The ground workers get little recompense and do a lot of work and we should be proud of them.

Isn't there one more election, for two additional seats?
Those seats are currently held by Democrats.

important points, johnhp.
i have been fiercely frustrated that media - no suprise, of course - is oblivious to this: "Winning the two seats in a recall is an historical victory ... "
it certainly IS!!
thank you for adding that!

You are absolutely correct. SOmehow only winning two seats in an unprecented race is "losing". Quite frankly this recall involved 3 times the seats as any previous recall.
And we need to send support to our friends in Wisconsin, not only for next week, but for a recall of Walker.
