The Democratic Party, henceforth, needs a new anti-terrorist strategy
as it relates to the Republican Tea Party, which, as this latest drama over the debt ceiling proves, is clearly a threat to the country in their willingness to force our country's economic system (which is inextricably tied to the global economy as well) into chaos.

We still have more than a year left dealing with these psychos and at least one major legislative battle looming before the end of THIS year (i.e. continuing government funding) and President Obama, the Democrats in Congress, and, most importantly, the rest of us, need to be prepared for more hostage-taking and mischief and develop a better means of approaching the next battle(s) IMHO.

What do you think we might need to encourage our leaders to do in order to respond to this new political climate? What are some things that we can do, at the grassroots level, to oppose this new terrorist menace that has been unleashed by the Republican Tea Party against our political system? Shrug

What we need the most, obviously, is simply to get rid of as many of these Tea Party terrorists in the next election and ensure that we hold the WH and Senate IMHO but, obviously, we still have some time left before we can actually do that, so we need to focus on what we can do NOW.

1) Obviously we need to vote out the teahadists next election
2) We need to force them do something stupid - shoot the hostage - so people who haven't already figured it out can see how irrationally hate-filled these terrorists indeed are.
3) Target the activities of the worst of them in national ads. Make the Republican party cringe at the thought of having these psychos in their party. If the Republican party backs away from them, and voters see them as the wild-eyed nincompoops that they are, then perhaps we have a chance of waving goodbye to this already fading (bowel) "movement".

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

Also, individually some/most?/all? of them are bad people. I wouldn't mind pointing out those who owe $100,000+ in child support, and finding out what hypocracies others have.

Then voters might think "Hmmmmm... this guy doesn't support his children, Michele Bachmann accepts govt handouts... What's with these Tea people?"

Cool

If the Democrats don't jump on this and then try to excuse their not doing so by wanting to avoid mudslinging, my head may well explode.

We can use every venue we have....facebook, twitter, LTTEs, day to day conversations....to keep the truth out there and to question every move these fringe lunatics make. Have the facts and use them. When someone spouts a lie, call them on it.

I agree, though I do wish there was a central clearing house where these efforts were coordinated from. Sadly, grass roots need expensive fertilizer to grow into a healthy movement that won't be crowded out by others.

You are right, we do need a central clearing house. The right is loud and has many socks to spread the lies, we need a place to call them on those lies.

I know the Obama campaign had that fact finder thing in 2008, but unless you were a supporter people didn't go there. It needs to be on a neutral venue.

Any ideas of where?
