Patently false LA Times article on Obama's approval...

New Obama job approval sags to tie his lowest so far as spending/debt talks stall

For starters, this is the Gallup poll, which is highly volatile and no one should take a day's sample as gospel. So much changes in the span of a week, or even a few days, that the fact Obama is at 43% in this poll doesn't mean much. It's possible tomorrow he'll be up to 45% again and then what? Will we get a retraction from the LA Times that, after their initial story, his approval rating surged two-percentage points in a day?

Doubtful.

But the outright lie comes at the end of the article:

In 1995, Clinton only surpassed 50% three times - all in the months of November & December.

There was no daily tracking poll. We weren't shown the ups and downs of Clinton's DAILY numbers. It's possible, at any point in 1995, his approval was worse one day than it actually was presented during one of their monthly polls.

Finally, from July 20-23, 1995, Clinton's approval rating, as recorded by Gallup, was at 46% - three points higher than Obama's.

The only thing Clinton bested Obama in was disapproval. In 1995, often he would poll better in approval than disapproval, even though he rarely climbed above 50%. Much of this was due to a very high undecided number.

UPDATE: Gallup has Obama's approval rating today at 45% - a three-point bump from yesterday. I was right.

So, it looks like the LA Times article is already outdated.

Pathetic. Especially when people continue to suggest the LA Times is somehow liberal.
