Mrs. Obama is first public figure on cover in four decades; talks Let's Move!, healthy eating and gardening...
First Lady Michelle Obama graces the cover of the August, 2011 print edition of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, which will hit news stands on July 19. Mrs. Obama is the first public figure to appear on the cover of the magazine in 48 years, and the feature story includes an interview about the Let's Move! campaign and the First Lady's efforts to promote healthy eating and vegetable growing, with the White House Kitchen Garden. It includes a photo spread of Mrs. Obama and BHG co-hosting a picnic for local fifth graders at the White House, shot in May. Publisher Meredith says the print edition of the magazine reaches "close to" 40 million readers monthly.

You're quite welcome..I hesitated about a day because there was such bad news I didn't have the heart to post it but then decided I was being "silly". Rollin

Before Obama was elected we use to imagine what it would be like having them in the White House and it's like I thought.. Interesting reality that we were so heartlessly denied during the bush twilight zone.

And, the First Lady has surpassed all expectations of what awesomeness it could be to have someone like Michelle Obama as FLOTUS~ VP Biden and Dr Jill are priceless, too. I want another TERM! Beer

Thanks Cha. Did you see that Michelle Obama is the only First Lady to get their cover in 40 years? She has brought the good in healthy eating to the country with the garden and the kids helping and running and playing. She is making a difference, and that's what makes it work.

Yes, I did! 48 years! It's very unique and the rw idiot bloggers are so jealous. I just went searching to see who was on the cover 48 years ago and all I saw were crap links lying and whining about it.

But, I asked another way and got this.. It was "the first public figure"..

Mrs. Obama's colorful shift for the photo spread is the Chalet bouquet dress from retailer Talbots, notes Mary Tomer, editor and creator of Mrs. O, the blog that tracks the First Lady's sartorial history. The last celebrity to appear on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens was actor Cliff Robertson, in 1963. He penned a column in that issue titled “He Cooks,” according to Meredith. The publisher is based in Des Moines, Iowa.

What a coincidence..I met Cliff Robertson in La Jolla, Calif in 1976. He was shopping at a health food store I was working in.Kiss Nanner

I checked on the Talbots website and didn't see the dress. Sad
Rats... I wanted to get one.
I wonder if it's one the FLOTUS has had for a while?

But, I just found this comment..

"Although this dress is sold out, the same print (chalet bouquet) is still available in skirts." Wave
