Democrat Janice Hahn Wins California U.S. House Race

Democrat Janice Hahn has defeated Republican Craig Huey in a bitter contest for a Southern California House seat, preserving her party's hold on the district and surviving an unusually tough race in a longtime stronghold.

With all reporting, Hahn, a Los Angeles city councilwoman, had 41,585 votes, or about 55 percent, to 34,636, or about 45 percent, for Huey, who owns marketing and advertising companies and largely bankrolled his campaign with nearly $900,000 in personal funds.

Huey campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Jacobs says her candidate has left a message with Hahn's office to concede the race.

Hahn said the victory was bittersweet as she mourned the unexpected death of her 86-year-old mother on Monday. Hahn abruptly suspended her schedule on the eve of Election Day to join her grieving family.

Not sure why the republicon would even be considered to win in a Democratic District when the national republicons have been nothing but sociopathic traitors? Like the House needs one more of those? Evidently this District did not think so. It's like not talking about the big elephant in the room.

media was carrying huey. huey was appealing to bigots. and the presumption Hahn would win, the district being so strongly Democratic, caused them all to anticipate - correctly, it turns out - that voter turnout would be low, giving republicons a slightly stronger chance. thank goodness, Hahn won!
