DFP: Monday, July 11th Daily Thread
I'm back! July 1st I flew back to SWMO to spend the 4th with my family. My brother Don & his family live there and my brother Chuck came up from Huntsville.

Got in Friday night and Saturday we loaded up and took my pontoon boat and Don's Cobalt to Table Rock Lake for the day. Water was 90 degrees.

Sunday we had a BBQ rib cook off at Don's ... 5 contestants. What fun! I interviewed all participants and uploaded the videos to FB. There were 8 of us judging the ribs --- numbered A-E so nobody knew whose ribs we were tasting. Don won the crown.

Monday we did a 6 mile float trip in canoes on the James River, stopping to swim and the roast hot dogs on a sand bar on a fire my nephew built. Hit a few rapids (and rocks) but no injuries or toppled boats.

Got back late Friday night to LAX and came home Saturday to put up the pool in 100+ weather. Have my oldest two grandchildren here for a few days.

I'm exhausted! Did you miss me? Love Ya

What did you all do over the holiday?

I was born a Truman, but you can call me Pat. Wave

It was fun! We had 4 canoes, a kayak and a flat bottom boat in our group. Took us six hours because we made a lot of stops to swim and cool off along the way.

Sounds like a wonderful time, and you could use a vacation after that vacation! Wave

I did as little as possible. Mostly read, swam, and ate. I'd do it all over again anytime. Smile

Sounds to me like you had a great time Pat!

Here in my world the huge festival came to an end over the weekend and things are much quieter now. I am gearing up to move my household across town and have spent much time cleaning the house I am moving to. I'm just glad to be doing all that hard work during a bit of a hot spell. Ugh.

In other news, today would've been my dad's 79th birthday. He was awesome and I adored him. I'll probably drink a wee bit o' Irish whiskey with my brother tonight as we toast his memory.

We got some of your monsoonal moisture here while I was gone. Paul said my saltwater tank got up to 84 degrees. I'm getting the ductless A/C-Heat Pump combo from Mitsubishi installed this week hopefully. Tired of being hot when we have humidity!

Moving is so stressful, especially in this heat! My dad would have been 92 in May. We never stop missing them.

I have 4 of my 5 grandchildren staying over. The baby would be too much for me to watch--she is like a whirlwind! Plus I don't have the safety rail up yet for the pool. I love my grandchildren dearly but once the bickering starts I want to hide. Facepalm

On another note, what would you all think about a DFP weekly thread instead of a daily? Thoughts? Love Ya

whew! sounds rough, considering you were just catching up with getting home and laborious tasks in high heat, Pat!

i say, a DFP Whenever You Feel Like It thread! imho, it would be closer to the pace of social things here at this point, too. as DFP grows, so will others making such threads become more possible. then there may be several similar threads around here.

such a thread ought not to be a burden. i believe the intention for this was for us to have a pleasant more-personal exchange now and then, yes?

that's my ... ehem ... humble take on it! Wink

thank you for ANY time you do this, Pat!!
Wave Grouphug Love Ya

I remember when my first 2 grandsons were little, they stayed with me often and when they started the usual bickering I used to tell them ..... Oh please don't fight with my grandson. They'd laugh and we'd play some more Uno. I had calluses from that Uno because they were too little to shuffle, so I got to every hand.

A weekly thread sounds good.

And by the way.....I have a new grandchild coming in Nov. Another boy! Daughter has 3 and this will be 4 for my son. All grandsons.
