Obama: Don't use debt as a gun against Americans

Answering questions posed to him on the social Networking site Twitter, the president cast the debate over reducing the deficit in some of the starkest language he has used so far.
Obama is seeking to reduce the deficit, in part, through new tax revenue raised by closing loopholes and tax subsidies. Among the loopholes cited by the White House are tax benefits for corporate jets. He also has called for ending subsidies to oil and gas companies, a proposal that would generate about $40 billion in revenue over 10 years.
Republicans have opposed measures that raise taxes.

The good news is that a majority of Americans are with Obama on this - or he is with them, however you want to look at it. They/we want the rich to pay their fair share. I couldn't agree more.

I find it hard to believe that the repubs are so dense, but like the bumper sticker says--If they say it ain't about taxes, it's about taxes!

It ain't about taxes, it's about control by their corporate masters. Like the evil Grover Norquist said, "we will make the conditions such that the President can't govern as a democrat." (sic) If they can do that, they (the repubs) don't have to win the White House. The teabaggers and the rabid RW have pulled the country and thinking so far to the right and have made "government" and "liberal" dirty words.
