RE: DFP: Sunday, June 12th Daily Thread
My kid got shoved into the mud this morning during a soccer game. Fortunately they did call the foul. Another girl got into a shoving match with the other team - I think the coach of the opposing team ought to be sanctioned for promoting bad behavior. The weather was raw and wet. They decided to bail on the final game of the tournament - which was fine with me as there was a 5 hour span between games held one hour from home. Soccer season is over

My 10yo granddaughter Amanda plays soccer and did tournaments after the regular season. It's rough and tumble! She's a goalie now but has played several positions. The weekend I went to Lancaster to watch her play, they were rained out! Lots of soccer families at the hotel that weekend, disappointed.
I was born a Truman, but you can call me Pat.

Funny, these games were in Lancaster as well - Lancaster Ma, that is.

RE: DFP: Sunday, June 12th Daily Thread
Rainy day today so we've been burning brush again. We've been cutting all but a few trees off of our property for the sake of having more lawn. It's been quite an undertaking. We are pretty much done w/the woodcutting but there is still a ton of brush to clean up, followed by stump removals and eventually seeding for grass- Oh and we will be planting a few apple trees eventually. I'm already loving the extra sunlight the tree removal is providing.
The last time we burned brush a couple of weeks ago, we found a nest w/three wild baby bunnies in it and no mother to be found. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to remove the bunnies. But doing that apparently means the mother would probably reject them even if we tried to relocate them to a safe place, so I had to call animal control to come get them. The good news is that a 'foster' mother bunny accepted them to nurse. The animal control lady was not sure if the lactating mother would accept them but she did and they are doing well. We saw no bunnies today.

Do you have to get a permit to burn brush up there? I removed 6 trees last year, though that was due to safety concerns @ driveway and two others were spreading roots into my main septic line - NOT a good thing!

Yes we do need permits, but it's simply a matter of calling some guy in town who ok's it (or not) A very informal thing. I don't even now if he has an 'official' title, but he works for the town in this capacity (for probably a very modest amount of money) and is also a member of the local volunteer fire department.
Too bad about the roots of the trees spreading into the septic line. Just another one of the joys of home owning I suppose. Grr! There's always something, isn't there?

I remember watching RD on KTLA, Channel 5 with my Grandmother & Grandfather Truman as a child visiting them. They never missed it (or wrestling) and I guess it's a bit nostalgic for me to see my daughter want to do this. What I love the most is she feels so accepted as-is and the diversity in ages (oldest on the team is 53), and watching them fulfill their dream.

I was trying to remember what Channel it was in Fresno, so I went a googling. Channel 47 Big Time Wrestling! Pepper Gomez, Pat Patterson, lol. My dad even took us to one of these studio wrestling matches I think. And apparently Rocky Johnson is The Rock's dad, well who knew! Too funny, I hate wrestling now.
