This was a Reagan_Bush Republican planned hit on Our Nations National Wealth Generating Capacity.

RE: Out Sourcing Jobs - Democrats Continue to Support
Barack Obama's pick for commerce secretary, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, vows to create millions of technology jobs that can't be outsourced. Sounds good, particularly in this melting economy.

On the other hand, Richardson supports expanding the H-1B visa program, which had greased the departure of good-paying tech jobs to lower-wage countries. The program lets U.S. companies employ up to 65,000 temporary foreign software designers, engineers and other skilled professionals a year.

This is the hypocrisy of Democrats and the Obama administration. They recognize that jobs are going offshore purely for cheaper labor reasons. Yet they ignore the connections and the fact that using guest worker Visas to bring in cheap labor is precisely the same thing and also displaces U.S. workers.

So one gets double speak from politicians.

What difference does it make if that foreign worker is sitting in Bangladesh with that American's job or sitting in Alabama? It's the same lost job, same cheap labor and the only difference is physical location.

In fact corporations want these Visas simply because many jobs, especially in the high skills area require training (often done by the American to be fired) before the job can be offshore outsourced.

The article incorrectly states the H1-B visa limit as being 65,000 per year.

The facts are over 85,000 per year:

- 65,000 reserved for anybody
- 20,000 reserved for Masters Degree and up holders
- UNLIMITED number to non-profits (e.g. universities, hospitals, ...)

This does not include the L1 visa, of which I believe there are an UNLIMITED number.

That article is ancient. roflmao

I agree and have indeed lost my previous job to H1B visa holders who I trained how to do my job, then they started up an engineering department in China, only to shut down ALL engineering in the United States shortly thereafter. It's criminal and corporations shipping our technology overseas should have their boards executed for treason. This is a real problem.

I also think you're not here to honestly debate this topic as you've come in here guns-a-blazing attacking the Democrats on an issue the Republicans are 10x worse on.

If you don't show a little inclination to supporting the Democratic party, which is what we are about here, you will not find a receptive audience...

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

RE: Out Sourcing Jobs - Democrats Continue to Support
I didn't know Bill Richardson was up for Commerce Secretary again.....when did that happen? Ahhhh I went to the link and the article is from: Submitted by Robert Oak on Thu, 01/01/2009 .......the President wasn't even sworn in yet.

I think the jobs coming back little by little, but at a definite growth pattern, says that the Obama administration is keen on getting the people in this country back to work and would like to see it happen faster. Perhaps if the money men would cut loose and invest in their companies the hiring would escalate.

Oh, it just depends on how you look at it.

What we have here is an unwitting but starkly clear example of how commentators were setting the President up for failure even before the man was sworn into office. In many people's eyes, he was already a bad President based on speculation even though not a single one of his policies had been put into effect.

Or, viewed another way entirely, what we have here is how not to engage in Astroturfing. They won't pay you if your strategy just makes people laugh at you.

Was that supposed to be retrospective of the latter days of the Bush Regime, and how President Obama has been successful in turning those miserable numbers around?
