Reminder: President Obama on "60 Minutes" tonight (5/8)
Via email:

Pat--

Just wanted to make sure you knew that "60 Minutes" is airing an interview with President Obama tonight.

It's the only interview he gave this week, so I hope you take the time to tune in to CBS at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. You can find your local CBS station here.

Hope you're enjoying your Mother's Day weekend.

Jim Messina
Campaign Manager

Yes! I spent yesterday with my two daughters. Friday night, my youngest and I stayed in LA and had a great Italian dinner in Manhattan Beach. Yesterday, my oldest joined us and we went to Hollywood Park for the Kentucky Derby day buffet and enjoyed the races. None of us picked the winner of the KD, but we had a great time nonetheless. RE: Reminder: President Obama on "60 Minutes" tonight (5/8)
Just watched it, and thought Obama was well-prepared for every question. After this past week, watching Obama, I find myself having the same thoughts as when Obama won the presidential election - elated he'd won, but also experiencing a sense of loss for Obama the Candidate, who had now become Obama the President. Watching this interview, it struck me how completely and fully Obama now wears the mantle of President; he exudes complete confidence with the power of the office. One thing I noticed is that Steve Kroft at last seems to understand he is interviewing a President of the United States. Recalling other interviews he's done with Obama, he's tended to sit there with a "show me" attitude and generally behaves with a whiff of disrespect. Not here. Totally respectful, and dare I say it, even a little intimidated.

Getting back to my earlier comment, when I think of Obama now, it's accompanied by the thought, "this is the guy who put to rest once and for all the question, "Where is Osama bin Laden?" And he did it in such a steely, focused way - I suppose what I'm trying to say is I think the President has at last put the fear of God into his opponents, here and abroad. Not only is he the president who has passed historic legislation, he has also now definitively shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is indeed a ruthless and capable Commander-in-Chief.

Quite a combination!

Excellent analysis, jane. I was thinking about how many times Steve Kroft has interviewed Obama and then President Obama and how respectful he was this time. I'm sure it didn't get past the President, either.

He was so well prepared..we got a intelligent one this time..mind blowingly so!

As said in another thread.. the President even gave bush some credit..come to think of it I'm now surprised Kroft didn't ask him if "torture" had anything to do with the demise of bin laden..he asked him everything else.
