Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid
The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. It's going to be interesting to hear the details..got his body..but how, why, where & when?
Yep, and where has he been for the past ten years? And doing what?
Well we know that Osama Bin Laden was in crosshairs at Tora Bora, our military called the Junior and Cheney for permission to take him out. They were given a resounding "No". I think that Junior/Cheney knew where he was when they were in the WH and that's why they destroyed Valerie Plames career and her pipeline of informants.

EDIT: CNN it has been confirmed that the US has the body of Bin Laden
Even though I knew it before the President started speaking, when he said it, tears started falling down my cheeks. It was like almost 10 years telescoped into nothing, and that day, 9/11, was back fresh in my mind. To hear those words, that Bin Laden is dead, was sweet music to my ears.
I had the very same feeling Punky.. I had flashes of the towers falling.. people running in the streets.. that rubble smoke billowing behind them.. covered in gray ash.
We have phone calls between family coming in.. even this late.

Checked out the scene elsewhere and came back here right away
After I checked in with my friends here first, I decided to up-periscope over at That Other Place just to see if their celebratory thread had any resonance as per the old days...
Ah well. Yes there are some happy campers. The "Where's Buckwheat?" troll-post was deleted promptly. But overall there's an air of ... ambivalence.
Damn is that sad.
Hey, who caught Rachel Maddow's phone call from the scene of the revels in front of the White House? Was that cool or what?

Rachel basically joined the flash-mob in the park in front of the White House and provided on-the-scene cell phone commentary for the crowd scene they had running. Up till that point it was just the talking heads from the studio, no context.
Rachel reported that it was a largely young crowd, folks who have spent at least half their lives under the shadow of 9-11, and that the atmosphere was half pep rally and half frat party. They are very happy out there, lotta flag waving, a variety of T-shirts including a Bush-Cheney one.
She sounded pretty happy herself -- very energized, you know how she is. She said when she first got there she was at the back of the crowd, but that it had grown so much that her spot was now in the middle.
Wouldn't you love to be there?

Yes, I would love to be there but this is great just hearing about it at DFP from you.
I hope it helps those who lost love ones in the mass homicidal acts that this raving lunitic masterminded on 9/11. Like the President said..there is justice.
I don't believe in the death penalty but this is different..there's no doubt. And, no more tapes from him right before US elections.

Spinning
From the right
1) He kept us up too late for the announcement
2) Republicans in Congress were involved in the real work of planning and execution
3) It's a validation of the War on Terror and the greatness of our military - it's disrespectful to them to give Obama credit
From the professional left
1) There were probably innocents killed
2) This pursuit cost too much in money and lives
3) I can never celebrate anyone dying
4) Obama only did it to try and impress Republicans
5) Osama has no command or control remaining
