TOONs: Get out your reading glasses
We had some trouble with the last set of cartoons, where people mentioned needed their reading glasses. I will not name names Grin

The one with the burning cross on the WH lawn is sad. Sad

It's "Yes WE can" not "Yes HE Can".

That was done by Ron Rogers

When I found that cartoon, it seems especially moving, so I was looking him up to see who the cartoonist was. Interesting, I found out that Ron Rogers was the nation's only full-time African American editorial cartoonist at a daily newspaper. Then last fall, got laid off, so he is back to free-lancing.

It does seem like cartooning is done mostly by a bunch of white guys, now that I think about it. It is good to have a cultural/gender mix to get additional perspective.

I could see that one a bit different though. I don't think Obama would be peering out from behind a curtain. I think he'd be out there with a bucket of water dousing the flames while stomping on the fools who brought the burning cross.

Had that thought myself. My only problem with the toon was that he seemed to be cowering. I know it was making a point and that this wasn't the intention, but it could have been done differently and made a different, better point, imo.

Yep, and to that image I would like to add the voters/liberals/base running in with buckets of water!

Hi HopeOverFearWave

It is sad and pathetic that there are so many who are just plain dumb, ignorant, and vicious on this Planet with a big share in our country. I saw that strip and thought the artist had it exactly right with the "burning cross" but now that I've gone back to look at President Obama again I see that's not what his reaction is to the racist bigoted birthers. He says they're the gop's problem.

We know the President likes to go beyond race..I remember during an interview before the election Steve Kroft asked why he didn't talk about his being Black(paraphrasing)..but, I do remember Obama's answer.."I think they've noticed". Smile

That's my PrezLove Ya

Love the one where the elephant hopes there are some other boxes (candidates) somewhere.

Rogers' burning cross is spot on
I'm glad one of the cartoonists finally said it.
