Huge Success of MT Wolf Reintroduction
In reading about wolves being delisted from the endangered species list, looks like it's a good idea. Montana's population is over 500! The general Rockies is even more.

"The population is still very secure, still very robust and healthy," she said. "We're on the right track in thinking about harvest as a population management tool." The joint report with state, federal and tribal agencies found that the 2009 wolf population in the northern Rockies grew to at least 1,706, up from the 2008 estimate of 1,650 wolves. The population includes 242 packs and 115 breeding pairs, up from 95 breeding pairs. In Montana, biologists estimate the population added 166 pups and 26 breeding pairs, Joe Maurier, FWP director, said in a press release."

Interesting. I saw something over the weekend about Yellowstone....how the buffalo and wolves have grown to be sizable herds and packs again.

RE: Huge Success of MT Wolf Reintroduction
I had read somewhere that they are thinking about doing the same with lions, yes lions...The article I read mentioned that somewhere in the middle of the country used to a great area for lions...etc. and we can bring them back?

Does this make sense?
