How many folks realize the biggest budget battles are yet to come?
There's a lot of criticism on PBO for managing this latest negotiation and trying to come out as an re-electable adult rather than a screaming partisan for the far left. We're talking about being what, $30 billion apart?

The huge struggle - real long tern deficit control - is to come. Trillions will be at stake. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will be targted. Do we really want a Republican president and congress in control of that? Paul's proposal basically ends Medicare and Medicaid as we know them.

There's an enormous amount at stake. Thank God PBO will likely be at the helm to temper the repugs' axes for several more years.

Yes, this current budget stalemate is over this year's budget which is a quarter way over. The budget war for next year hasn't begun---except for the Ryan proposal (Prosperity for the Few).

I was born a Truman, but you can call me Pat. Wave

"They want to give people like me a two hundred thousand dollar tax cut that’s paid for by asking thirty three seniors to each pay six thousand dollars more in health costs? That’s not right, and it’s not going to happen as long as I’m President." Barack Obama

About the same number of people that realize that the VAST majority of government spending is either 1) wildly popular or 2) mandatory. Which is to say, a few dozen people inside Washington, a half dozen people outside of Washington, and a room full of chimps at the San Diego Zoo.
