it wasn't because people favored these reactionaries that they got into offices, it was because they were punishing others. and the lefties were punishing dem's for going along with these guys!

progressives have always been the majority. the problem is getting them to vote. and getting others to stop splitting the vote with pie-in-the-sky other parties.
