Media Matters' war against Fox
I hope they succeed.

Quote:In an interview and a 2010 planning memo shared with POLITICO, Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters — which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget — is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp. They include its bread-and-butter distribution of embarrassing clips and attempts to rebut Fox points, as well as a series of under-the-radar tactics.

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes. And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operation to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012 from Vintage/Anchor. (In the interest of full disclosure, Media Matters last month also issued a report criticizing “Fox and Friends” co-host Steve Doocy’s criticism of this reporter’s blog.)

Brock said Media Matters also plans to run a broad campaign against Fox’s parent company, News Corp., an effort which most likely will involve opening a United Kingdom arm in London to attack the company’s interests there. The group hired an executive from MoveOn.org to work on developing campaigns among News Corp. shareholders and also is looking for ways to turn regulators in the U.S., U.K., and elsewhere against the network.

The group will “focus on [News Corp. CEO Rupert] Murdoch and trying to disrupt his commercial interests — whether that be here or looking at what’s going on in London right now,” Brock said, referring to News Corp.’s — apparently successful — move to take a majority stake in the satellite broadcaster BSkyB.

Good for them! Watch for a full-out Fox blitz against Media Matters. I'm sure Limpballs will have some things to say, too.

RE: Media Matters' war against Fox
This is how you fight the facist. Of course we will here from "Democratic" supporters that we shouldn't stoop to these levels because it makes us no better than the other side. Well I disagree, Media Matters is still playing by the rules but they are not letting the likes of Faux and Ailes get away with even the most minute lie. There is an end game and Ailes is smack dab in the middle of it with people like the Koch brothers.

Best of Luck to Media Matters because what they reveal will shock the nation.

I hope they succeed but given the large brainwashed masses that think Faux is the only network that tells the truth, I don't have much hope.

If it's the only network "that tells the truth" then why are "fox viewers the least informed Americans"?

Poor brainwashed saps are contributing to the downfall of America..and brainwashed or not..they are the enemy.

That's why Faux is so dangerous. The people that watch it don't even know they are lied to on a daily basis.
I remember talking to an older woman who was a avid viewer of Faux and she swore that weapons of mass distruction were really found in Iraq. No amount of telling her the truth that none were found would get through, and even advising her to go on line and check out other sources would convince her. Those other sources were the ones lying and Faux was the "truth".

RE: Media Matters' war against Fox
I'm with MediaMatters..they've been an ongoing org that has exposed lies in the so called "media" for years and they're only getting better..glad they have a good budget to work with.

"And Brock’s 2010 planning memo offers a glimpse at Media Matters’ shift from media critic to a new species of political animal.

“Criticizing Fox News has nothing to do with criticizing the press,” its memo says. “Fox News is not a news organization. It is the de facto leader of the GOP, and it is long past time that it is treated as such by the media, elected officials and the public.”

I feel ahead of my time and really really observant..after not watcing tv for a decade I got one in 1999 and watched fox(faux) for about two weeks and never went back because I realized what a propaganda machine it was. 2 weeks to the politically naive(at the time)!

MediaMatters' war is our war!

Warning..the front page is full of ugliness on account of the lies being exposed by those sucking up airtime.

RE: Media Matters' war against Fox
One of my brainwashed, thinks-he's-a-conservative acquaintances posted a screed about this from some blog lambasting Media Matters and Think Progress as some billionaire's attempt to take over the country. This screed of course praised Fox for its more balanced coverage.

I almost lost it. I actually had to get up and walk away from the keyboard and my phone to prevent myself from going off or calling the idiot and just yelling at him.

It strains credulity that people I in fact know are not stupid are this stupid.

They freak out when George Soros donates money to anything or banks a friggin' website but absolutely do not notice when Koch, Ailes, Murdoch ... a cast of hundreds actually outright own or control massive media outlets.

Some days it simply does not pay to chew through the restraints.

I hope you at least set him straight and pointed out how billionaires like Murdoch and the Koch brothers are the REAL villains.
