After Virginia's ruling: NJ judge throws out suit challenging health law

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A judge in New Jersey has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the new federal health care law.

New Jersey Physicians Inc., a nonprofit group, filed the lawsuit against President Barack Obama the day after health care reform was signed into law in March.

The lawsuit claims that doctors won't be able to accept direct payments from patients and patients will be penalized if they choose not to buy health insurance.

In Wednesday's opinion, U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton wrote that the law doesn't prevent any physician from accepting direct payment and that a patient can't claim future harm when he or she could obtain insurance through an employer.

A lawyer for the plaintiffs said an appeal has already been filed with the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.

What a weird suit - maybe it's something I'm missing - doctors won't accept direct payment roflmao

Frankly, I hope such groups keep right on bringing specious suits that get tossed out.
