Angryfire The politics of butting in....
Her baby wasn't expected to live, but Nebraska law banned abortion

Danielle Deaver cradled her daughter, knowing the newborn's gasps would slowly subside, and the baby would die.

<..> At 3:15 p.m. Dec. 8, 1-pound, 10-ounce Elizabeth Deaver - named in memory of Robb's grandmother - made one final attempt to breathe.

Her life struggle, 15 minutes outside the womb after 23 weeks and five days of gestation, was over.

"Our hands were tied," Danielle Deaver said. "The outcome of my pregnancy, that choice was made by God. I feel like how to handle the end of my pregnancy, that choice should have been mine, and it wasn't because of a law."

Some republican made the decision for them, some one who didn't know them and didn't care about them or the baby. Someone who put his stinking morals and lousy values out there to dictate a pregnancy.

Republicans must be happy
Their goal to set back woman's and minority rights to 1950's status is well on it's way. Rolleyes

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

Just don't understand why these blasted people feel they must decide this kind of delicate question for someone else. Heartbreaking. The poor child suffered and did not have to.

RE: The politics of butting in....
And had this poor child lived, the same politicians would have been fine with it not having health insurance because of the preexisting conditions she was born with... Nice.

That poor woman (and that poor child). For a bunch of people claiming they want smaller government, this law sure puts the lie to that.

Silence is consent.

Tragic....
Just Tragic. Sad

Rome wasn't built in a Day,
this shit didn't happen overnight, and 30 minute sitcoms are only on TV!

RE: The politics of butting in....
this is heartbreaking.
it is also sickening.

something i pass along when words simply cannot express the helpless rage: my mom always tells me, "wish a conscience on them (eg., repubs)." it may not make any substantial difference, but i get to visualize how they would suffer were they ever to be stricken with a conscience. there is no imaginable greater justice, they are so vile.

RE: The politics of butting in....
One thing in the article particularly annoyed me.....the nut who proposed it gleefully saying it worked.

Quote:<..> The author of the Nebraska law, Speaker Mike Flood, a Republican and attorney from Norfolk, maintained last week that the law worked in the Deavers' case.
"Even in these situations where the baby has a terminal condition or there's not much chance of surviving outside of the womb, my point has been and remains that is still a life," Flood said.

He shows absolutely no empathy for the baby, willingly wants it born to die, and damn the suffering. We know they don't give a shit about the mothers, but this is blatantly cruel.
