What will be the Template for President Obama's 2012 primary strategy-check this out:
Quote:Obama Will Set Up Campaign in Early States
In a must-read piece on President Obama's reelection effort, the Washington Post notes the president's team "has decided it will not give Republicans a free pass to criticize the president as they fight over their nomination. The president's reelection committee plans to put its own organizations into the early primary and caucus states -- Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina."
Said one adviser: "We can't cede the playing field. We can't just play general election. So we're going to have to organize on the ground in early states."
One of the first few comments following this snippet on Taegan Goddard's Political Wire seemed rather prescient:

Harry Reid's successful "campaign" to assist Sharron Angle by shoving Sue "The Chicken Lady" Lowden off a cliff will be the template for President Obama's 2012 primary strategy. And Mitt Romney knows it, which is why he's whining about all of the "RomneyCare" attention.
If the Republicans let themselves be maneuvered into nominating Newt Gingrich, or maybe worse, Michelle Bachmann, they'll get humiliated. And they'll deserve it.
I have to admit - I LOVE this idea!
President Obama and COS Bill Daley have been hugging Romney and Huntsman quite a bit lately.
Daley today:
Quote:Daley: Huntsman must address 'closeness' with Obama
White House chief of staff Bill Daley on Sunday said Ambassador Jon Huntsman will have to address his "closeness" with President Barack Obama.
"His support of the Obama administration, his support of the president, the things he did on behalf of this administration and the closeness in which he worked with the president is much appreciated," Daley said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "And I'm sure we'll talk about that in the primaries."
Huntsman, the former governor of Utah who's now the U.S. ambassador to China, is weighing whether to seek the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. And in recent weeks Daley has taken every opportunity to heap praise on Huntsman -- indirectly pointing out the would-be contender's greatest liability.
EDIT - Politico has corrected the copy (after a reader made them) - it should be "And I'm sure he'll talk about that in the primaries." Not "we'll talk about that in the primaries."
POTUS on Romney:
Quote:President Obama praises Mitt Romney’s health care plan
In a moment that will no doubt resurface again during the 2012 GOP primary, President Obama praised the health care plan Mitt Romney passed while serving as governor of Massachusetts.
"I know that many of you have asked for flexibility for your states under this law. In fact, I agree with Mitt Romney, who recently said he's proud of what he accomplished on health care in Massachusetts and supports giving states the power to determine their own health care solutions," Obama said in an address to the National Governors Association today. "He's right. Alabama is not going to have exactly the same needs as Massachusetts or California or North Dakota. We believe in that flexibility."
It's the second time in the past several weeks that the White House has gone out of its way to praise Romney, who is expected to launch a bid for the GOP nomination. In January, Obama adviser David Axelrod said the administration had gotten "some good ideas" from Romney, who has come under fire for the plan, which, like Obama's bill, mandates that individuals must have health insurance.
Last week, Mike Huckabee, who is contemplating his own 2012 run, said Romney should apologize for the plan. In response, a Romney spokesperson said the ex-governor is "proud" of the plan--a surprising statement after weeks of Romney's silence on the subject.

LOL the President is going to hug them and then they're gonna have to explain why. I love it!! This is exactly what the pubs need, to be brought to their knees by the man they hate.....and he'll be so bipartisan about it they'll have to behave.

He is going to "help" the more "moderate" candidates like Huntsman, Romney - just like Sue Lowden - become "unacceptable" to the crazy Republican Primary voters. I hope they send him a Thank You note.

They're so brilliant..I knew they would come up with what it takes to win. So does Dennis still think the President needs a primary opponent even though he'll be too busy with his own election?
Meanwhile I read Sue Lowden isn't able to pay her campaign debts.. has she tried the ol' Chicken ploy on 'em?

Of course! Just pay your debts in Chickens, Sue. What could possibly go wrong with that? Doesn't everyone accept chickens along with cash?
We have a new name option from Time's Swampland - "Death Hug"

OK, we need a name for this. As the next election season draws near and the White House eyes the proto-presidential machinations of Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, they are increasingly engaging in a certain devious form of political sabotage. It's premature to launch outright attacks, but the White House is clearly having a lot of fun heaping praise on parts of the Romney and Huntsman resumes. Here's Chief of Staff Bill Daley yesterday on "Meet the Press":
Quote:MR. GREGORY: Are you concerned with Ambassador Huntsman making moves toward running for president? Have you given him a talking to as a member of the administration in courting the presidency?
MR. DALEY: Well, I think there's been a lot of speculation of--about him. He's of---he's said he's going to resign the end of April. But we're--he's, he's done an excellent job on behalf of the Obama administration and we think that he is--his...
MR. GREGORY: Are you upset that he's still there talking about the presidency?
MR. DALEY: I have not heard or seen any direct quotes from Ambassador Huntsman, which obviously would be inappropriate. But his support of the Obama administration, his support of the president, the things he did on behalf of this administration and the closeness in which he worked with the president is most appreciated. And I'm sure he'll talk about that in the primaries.
They do it with Romney too (albeit slightly differently.) Obama went out of his way to acknowledge Romney in a recent speech to governors at the White House. "I know that many of you have asked for flexibility for your states under this law," he said. "In fact, I agree with Mitt Romney, who recently said he's proud of what he accomplished on health care by giving states the power to determine their own health care solutions. He's right."
These aren't exactly backhanded compliments because, well, they're not insults. Our friends over at CNN are calling it "unrequited love," but I'm not sure that's right either. It's gleefully impish, a naked attempt to undermine the relationship between candidate and base, all done with a wink and a nod. The tighter they embrace the candidate, the worse it gets. As it's going to be happening a lot, I'd like to have a succinct way to refer to it. I'm open to to better ideas, but for now let's call it the Death Hug.

Took the wind out of Romney's Federal Government Healthcare takeover meme:
"I would repeal Obamacare, if I were ever in a position to do so. My experience has taught me that states are where healthcare programs for the uninsured should be crafted, just as the Constitution provides. Obamacare is bad law, bad policy, and it is bad for America's families," he said.
I was born a Truman, but you can call me Pat.
"They want to give people like me a two hundred thousand dollar tax cut that’s paid for by asking thirty three seniors to each pay six thousand dollars more in health costs? That’s not right, and it’s not going to happen as long as I’m President." Barack Obama

I have the wonderful feeling that if we all focus and work hard, President Obama will sweep into office again in 2012 with the biggest margin ever seen.
Let's make history!

If the Teabagger Republican Party think that they are going to carry forward any momentum whatsoever from 2010, they are completely delusional.
Boehner is already stumbling and losing message cohesion as the loons that are a significant portion of his caucus now are busy steering the House off a cliff, while moderate voters are watching in horror as the Teabagger Republican Party state governors turn their focus on them in order to screw them over.
Any potential Teabagger Republican nominee will be forced to go in front of the cameras and make lunatic-like noises in order to placate the drooling Teabaggers in trying to secure their support, all the while giving the Democratic Party even more campaign fodder by using their own words against them.
The days of "No Republican will speak ill of another Republican" are long dead. These vicious pricks cannot wait to verbally stab each other in the back, on live TV.
Whoever is left standing will get swatted in November.
