RE: Taco Bell "88% beef" ad
I think the whole thing resulted in 88 cent Crunchwrap Supremes, so I'm all in.

I don't care if there's any beef in it

There is something to be said for acknowledging the issue head-on, but they're going about it in a weird way.
Of course, I still maintain that this is much ado about nothing. It's fast food, people. If you want quality ingredients, look *anywhere* but a fast food place. I don't *expect* 100% beef in a Taco Bell taco. In fact, I would guess that the primary consumers of these things at 3 in the morning don't really care if there's anything even remotely digestible in them as long as they maintain a taste that appeals to the drunk and stoned.
I'm with you, I could care less about the beef content, but the language in that ad is so fucking stupid it makes me angry. Why would I buy anything from a place that says their product has "88% premium beef" and "12% signature recipe" in it? That's the worst, most angering marketing language I've ever heard in my life. I'm not sure I can go to a Taco Bell again based on the fact that I'd feel embarrassed to be seen at a company that would hire such utter morons to save their reputation. The ad makes me want to punch somebody.

12% ingredients (even if we rednecks don't care)

Here ya go.
Quote:We start with USDA-inspected quality beef (88%). Then add water to keep it juicy and moist (3%). Mix in Mexican spices and flavors, including salt, chili pepper, onion powder, tomato powder, sugar, garlic powder, and cocoa powder (4%). Combine a little oats, caramelized sugar, yeast, citric acid, and other ingredients that contribute to the flavor, moisture, consistency, and quality of our seasoned beef (5%).

RE: Taco Bell "88% beef" ad
I don't care if it's 100% cereal. I LOVE those crunchy tacos. I've actually gone and purchased them solely because I hear another story about this. Like what I'm getting for lunch today I guess!

RE: Taco Bell "88% beef" ad
I'd prefer 0% beef. I use the "beef substitute" by Yves and actually PREFER it to actual beef. Moo cows agree.

RE: There is a reason that place is called "Toxic Hell"

I live in the Southwest. We have authentic Mexican food here. I accept no substitutions.
When I lived in Houston, there was a Taco Bell relatively close to where I lived, one of only two or three fast food joints within a distance that would still allow it to be considered "fast." There was a KFC across the street and a Pizza Hut next door.
After having visited all three at one time or another, I realized that Taco Bell was the only one with not a single Latino employee. Not one. The other places were fairly racially diverse, but not the Taco Bell.
