Steve Benen: Visual Breakdown of Tax Deal
[Image: taxdealchart.jpg]

The left column shows the cost of the Republicans' high-end tax cuts in the deal; the middle column shows the cost of President Obama's progressive priorities like an extension of unemployment benefits; and the right column shows the cost of the tax cuts for those making under $250,000, which both parties generally supported. (The y axis is in billions of dollars.)

Steve Benen is awesome! Nice graph! Simple and straightforward.

Short but sweet article! I like this: "The clear majority of the costs here are going to Democratic priorities. And why on earth would Republicans go along with a proposal that includes expenses beyond their own priorities? Because as Jon Chait noted yesterday, 'Republicans 'love them some rich folk,' and GOP leaders are 'willing to bargain away a lot to help the very rich.' "

I wish I can KnR Big Grin Thank you, Born_A_Truman!

repubs are only in politics to suck off the government payroll in order to keep their beyond loaded donors from contributing to their paychecks.

Thank you. I've seen the numbers broken down before, but it's much more effective in graph form.

That graph certainly makes it clear where the real gains are in the proposed framework, doesn't it!

Love it, thanks for posting this.

RE: Steve Benen: Visual Breakdown of Tax Deal
Great visual. This is why it is driving me bonkers when people say - Bernie tweeted it - "I'm going to kill this tax cut deal to save the middle class". Facepalm
