But apparently a majority of us are. I, for one, am VERY happy that my children have graduated from college and will never have to tremble in fear of being on a Texas college campus where anyone that wants to can carry a gun. One of my children has now moved back to Europe, where she was born and grew up. The other lives in New York City, which will seem like like an Amish settlement compared to a Texas college campus soon.

We should rescue all the liberals from Texas and send all the hard core wingers there and let them secede.

Even better-- after all the nutters get settled in Texas, isn't there some provision in the Treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo where Mexico gets it back?

That treaty did not cede Texas to the United States. Texas had been an independent republic since 1836 until it was annexed by the US in 1846. If Texas were to secede, we could reclaim our place among the family of nations.

After what they are going through with Ciudad Juárez, what makes you think they'll want us?

Concealed weapons on partying college kids... what could go wrong? Maybe someone should ask Plaxico Burress what happens when you party while armed.

I went to college in Texas and this is a bad idea. Kids who aren't ready to make any real kind of decision on campus with loaded weapons. How will the campus police or city police know if they are friendly or foe?

Arizona used to be Mexican territory. Can we give this state back?

This was a big issue at the campus I worked at in Houston. We had enough crazies roaming the halls as it was.

You'll see a number of teachers and staff leave the state over this.

Oh, same here. It is completely bizarre to most people I know from anywhere but here.

I hope one doesn't go off and shoot them in their butt or falls down in a backpack without the safety catch and blows a hole in a foot.

They'll be especially nice at a kegger around 1am.

Imagine how you'd feel if you knew your student's roommate kept a gun in the room -- and there wasn't a darn thing you could do about it.

RE: I swear, I promise, not ALL Texans are stark raving crazy
When my mother, who moved to Texas to be near my sister and her four daughters, heard about the new law, she was fit to be tied. But when she vented to my sister, she wasn't concerned at all. "Mary," she said, "knows how to use a gun." Mary is one of the daughters who's in college now.

Duh. I'm surprised that all of them don't know how, since their father is an NRA type. But you'd think any sane person would want to keep guns off college campuses, especially given all the drinking that goes on there.

And I'd thought my sister was basically sane, despite all those Republican tendencies. Now I'm not so sure.
