California Nurses Association Slams Huge Blue Shield Health Insurance Premium Hike

The California Nurses Association is condemning a 59 percent health insurance rate hike from Blue Shield. Blue Shield announced a 60 day delay in implementing the rate hike following a demonstration by hundreds of nurses, patients and consumer groups. Data fro ma new report also shows that the health insurers in California routinely deny more than one-fourth of all claims. The CNA says these callous premium hikes and care denials inflict real pain on patients – from an industry that cares more about its bottom line than about delivering health care to patients.
