2/2/2011 In his State-of-the-State Address on Monday night California Governor Jerry brown acknowledged education has been one of the hardest hit over the last few years when it comes to making cuts to balancing the budget. During the last three years California schools and colleges have been hit with $18 billion in cuts. It is now up to California voters to approve an extension of taxes under Proposition 98 or education could lose an additional $2 billion. Brown called for approval of the proposition during his speech and during a conference call on Tuesday California School Employees Association Legislative Advocate Steve Henderson echoed the importance of preserving the extension.
