2/2/2011 By Doug Cunningham The heavy winter storms have forced at least 33 U.S. auto factories to shut down temporarily. Twenty-six of those were Ford and Chrysler plants. Parts shortages caused by the stormy weather forced the shutdowns of at least one shift at the plants Wednesday. U.S. auto parts supplier facilities are concentrated in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana and those states were hit hard by the blizzard and by ice storms. ![]() .
