Washington has new state GOP chairman

TUKWILA, Wash. - Washington state's Republican Party has a new chairman.

Former radio talk-show host Kirby Wilbur unseated Luke Esser in a party vote on Saturday.

Wilbur says he hopes to take the GOP in a new direction.

"I think the people of Washington need leadership that can explain the situation to them, explain the dilemma we're in, the financial problems we're in, and point the way to solutions, not politics or cliches, but how we got into the mess we're in," he said.

Wilbur hosted a conservative radio talk show on Seattle's KVI-AM for 16 years. It went off the air in 2009.

IMHO, Kirby Wilbur is a nasty piece of work. I can't wait to see what "new direction" he takes the state party in.

Oh, then Kirby will be explaining the whole tragic bush-cheney coup to the clueless republicons in Washington State.

I don't know Kirby from a hole in the ground but it's been my experience that rw talk show bleaters do have a big edge when it comes to nasty.

Yes, they do, and Kirby's edge is particularly sharp.

He will get along swimmingly with Jack Kimball, his newly elected counterpart in New Hampshire. Kimball's prior claims to fame were losing the gubernatorial primary by a 2 to 1 margin and posting angry messages on the sign at his business.
