Outspoken rock star Ted Nugent, who threatened Obama, will attend State of the Union address
I think it's a disgrace (he was invited by a Texas GOP representative). And the fact that no Republican leader in Congress will call it out as such is the bigger disgrace, and definitively puts the lie to any of their "we're the grownups" crap. Just disgraceful.

Another Republican "fuck you" to Obama and to the victims of gun violence.

Silence is consent.

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way but I am glad Nugent accepted the invitation and will be there tonight.

I think the odds are very good that he will do or say something strange, foolish, racist, outrageous, dangerous or, possibly, all of the above. He may even act out in some bizarre way.

Such a display will serve to drive more people away from the Republican party by exposing their outrageous depravity.

Have to agree with the OP, it's a disgrace that a fringe element racist criminal draft-dodging chickenhawk is referred to as a "patriot" and extended an invitation to the State of the Union address by a GOP member of Congress with no comment from the GOP leadership. Like said above, hopefully, and very likely, he'll misbehave or do something to embarrass his host and the rest of the GOP in front of the cameras, even though I'm sure he's been admonished to be quiet and behave.

Ah but can he control his Neanderthal instincts or will he give in to them as Joe "you lie" Wilson did?

Even if he restrains himself during the speech he will have many cameras trained on him and his expressions may betray him (remember Supreme Court Justice Alito caught mouthing the words "not true"). Then of course he will, no doubt, face a bevy of microphones ready to take down his every word after the speech.

This is another Republican embarrassment just waiting to happen. The wait will not be long!

Far right republicans can't be embarrassed. One has to have a conscience.

And functioning brain cells. There is no hope for Republicans.

RE: What do you think about the vileness known as Ted Nugent being invited to the SOTU
Ted Nugent sounds like the name you'd use for the stuff you scrape off the bottom of your shoes.

I hope he doesn't show up tonight or is denied admittance. I don't want the attention on him but on the President where it belongs.

Bill Press called Nugent the "turd in the punch bowl" on his show this morning. He was right.

Here's an article on the idiot GOP rep Steve Stockman, who thought that it was a good idea to invite that "patriot" Ted Nugent to the SOTU address...http://www.alternet.org/meet-texas-goper...bamas-sotu

Thanks for that link -- Stockman is a true disgrace, squared.

On the one hand I would like the vileness to go away. On the other hand, sunlight is the best disinfectant. Let the vile shine in all of it's glory and let's continue to defeat it at every turn. Otherwise it bubbles up and it can cause lots and lots of damage and pain.

Disgrace is a good word for it
The bigger picture shows us a GOP that embraces crazy stunt draft dodging and threats against the POTUS. But this is brought to you by the party that has shown a disgraceful lack of decorum since Obama first threw his hat into the presidential race. I recall past SOTU addresses that included "you lie" and head shaking whilst mouthing words such as "not true."

I don't think any of them know how to behave in polite company anymore.

We've seen people barred from a SOTU before... I certainly hope we see it again. Anyone who draws enough negative attention to themselves to warrant a visit from the FBI or SS should be thoroughly vetted before even being allowed to attend such events.
