How This Election-Rigging Plan Works

Unlike the plan Priebus backs, the New Republican Plan would not tie electoral votes to congressional districts. Instead, it would award the overwhelming majority of Pennsylvania’s electoral votes proportionally according to the popular vote, with two additional electoral votes going to the winner of the state as a whole. If the New Republican Plan had been in effect in 2012, Mitt Romney would have received 8 of Pennsylvania’ 20 electoral votes, despite losing the state by a substantial margin.

The problem with the New Republican Plan is that it would only be enacted in blue states such as Pennsylvania — the Democratic candidate for presidential won Pennsylvania in every single election for the past two decades — while red states would continue to award all of their electoral votes to the Republican.

We knew they wouldn't give up trying to find a way to steal elections. It's the only way the Republicans have left to capture the White House again.

What is appalling to be is how the Repubs implement election rigging/stealing plans and the Dems are so passive about it.

I hope there will be some legal challenges to this, and some heavy intervention from Washington in case no legal remedy is found.

States are given some latitude on choosing the way their presidential votes are tallied, and if Pennsylvania gets away with this, it's a highly dangerous precedent for taking the election away from the will of the voters.

We will be no better than Iran or Zimbabwe if this scheme is allowed to become law, and both sides know it. The difference is that the Republicans, knowing full well they have lost the confidence of the electorate, no longer care. Their motto is now "power at any price," and if abandoning any last pretense of being interested in capturing the votes of a majority is part of that price, they have just proved they are more than willing to pay it.
