Sunday Talks, 1/20/13
Read the full article on the blog.

It's Inauguration Sunday (and Inauguration Monday Eve). Here's who's on tap on the Sunday Talkies.

ABC's "This Week" will feature White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe. The roundtable, with guests BC News' George Will and Cokie Roberts, political strategist and ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd, former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, host of Current TV's "The War Room," and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, chairman of Patriot Voices, will discuss the challenges facing the President in his second term. Finally, Presidential Inauguration Committee co-chair Eva Longoria will be on to talk about all the inaugural events.

On NBC's "Meet the Press," Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York, who is also chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, and a new face in Congress, Republican Ted Cruz of Texas, will be discussing gun control and the debt ceiling. Occupying the roundtable are David Axelrod, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, and three of NBC’s finest: special correspondent Tom Brokaw, chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel and chief White House correspondent and political pirector Chuck Todd, in a discussion of the President's second term, and his mark on the world.

CBS's "Face the Nation" features David Plouffe, White House Senior Adviser, Condoleeza Rice, Former Secretary of State, DeeDee Myers, former Bill Clinton press secretary, Vanity Fair contributing editor Bob Woodward, and Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal discussing the President's second term and the challenges he will face. Taylor Branch, author of The King Years, Joe Califano, former Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, and Dr. James Peterson of LeHigh University will discuss the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lastly, Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-TX, and his twin brother, San Antonia Mayor Julián Castro, will sit down with host Bob Schieffer.

And on CNN's "State of the Union," White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe makes it to 3 of the 4 shows to discuss the President's upcoming term. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) gives the Republicans' take. Former Clinton speechwriter Don Baer and former George W. Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson will talk about what makes a memorable inauguration speech. Former Democratic Senator Russ Feingold, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, USA Today’s Susan Page and CNN Senior Political Analyst Ron Brownstein are in the roundtable discussing whether the President can get anything done in his second term when he's trying to do too much. (Author's note: I sense a bit of that ol' CNN Republican spin in that last item. Just sayin'...).
