White House rejects petition for Death Star
This story is conquering the internet today, but for anyone who hasn't seen it elsewhere, check out the real White House response to a petition to build a Death Star.

Quote:The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.

The Administration does not support blowing up planets.

Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

It goes on to describe some of the science and space exploration initiatives the administration is pursuing instead of blowing up planets.

This was a hoot - love the sense of humor in the response.

It's probably just as well.
Ya just know some NRA member somewhere would insist the Second Amendment gave him the right to own a Death Star. Facepalm

That is a funny response.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

I was hoping the Death Star would be the back up plan if the platinum coin didn't work.

NRA: Death Stars don't kill people -- people kill people.
