Paul Ryan signs on as cosponsor of new ‘fetal personhood’ bill
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), erstwhile vice presidential candidate in the failed presidential run of former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA), has signed on as cosponsor in a draconian new bill aimed at curtailing women’s reproductive freedoms. According to Huffington Post, in spite of the defeat of so-called “fetal personhood” laws in 2012, Ryan and his colleagues are forging ahead with a new measure that classifies all embryonic tissue as a human life from the moment of fertilization.

Ryan and Georgia Congressman Rep. Paul Broun — who gained notoriety in 2011 when video surfaced of him calling scientific facts “lies from the pit of Hell” — cosponsored the bill, which is called the Sanctity of Human Life Act. Broun first introduced the measure in 2011, but Ryan re-introduced it on the Hill last week.

The measure specifies that a “one-cell human embryo,” even before it has implanted itself in the uterine wall and resulted in a pregnancy, should be granted “all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood.”

Is there any language in that bill along the lines of: "All legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood shall cease upon birth, because after you're born, we don't give a good gawd-damn about you"?

Silence is consent.

Will we need to apply for a Social Security number for the fetus? If so then how early in the pregnancy would we do that? Can a woman get a tax deduction for the fetus even if she miscarries?

When does the child turn 16 and qualify for a drivers license? 16 years after birth or after conception?

If one gets a SS number for a fetus and later discovers that the fetus is now identical twins so they share the SS number for life or how do you decide which one gets the new SS number?

Does the age of twins start at conception or when the cells split into two individuals?

So many questions, so little common sense!

If only he cared as much about a live human child needing shelter and food and education as he does about a single cell deep within a woman's body.

There's nothing more reassuring then realizing the world is crazier than you are.

They've never had a problem with facts or science, they just ignore what they don't like.

Now, if only they had some of that concern for the post-birth children.
