With more and more cities using drones to watch over us. Should cities be forced to announce they are using drones?

I don't know how relevant the question is.

Seems like the mayors, police chiefs, etc. that spend ridiculous amounts of money to purchase drones are the first ones to jump in front of TV cameras to announce their move.

Personally, I don't see much difference between police chopper surveillance and drone surveillance.

They should all be forthcoming with the kind of surveillance they're using. They obviously can't announce every operation the drones are used for, otherwise that kind of defeats the purpose. Drones should not be used as surveillance, like swoop down and look through windows or even in back yards. That kind of surveillance should require a warrant. I don't know what they're doing with drones in the US, specifically and with what kinds of warrants, so that is a good civil rights question.

When you consider the different types of cameras that can be installed like infrared which already being used on the border.

They can't use infrared on houses without a warrant. That went to the Supreme Court based on a pot case in my town.
