A stunning difference between liberals and conservatives
This election and the reactions to Mitt Romney's defeat drove home a stunning difference between liberals/Democrats and conservatives/Republicans.
Having been around long enough to been on both the winning and losing side and always having a strong interest in knowing what the other side was saying and thinking, I am struck by how both sides have handled being rejected by the American people. Obviously both sides think they are right and the people wearing the white hats. However how they see the American public after being rejected by them, is very telling about their basic character (or lack there of). Democrats and Liberals- During the dark time of the Bush era and the Reagan era liberals and many Dems would refer to the voters as "sheeple" The idea was that they were good people, but that they had been taken in by a slick right wing propaganda machine and campaign that convinced them to vote against their own and the nation's self interest. Now this may not be an accurate assessment of reality but at least it is a healthy one that shows respect and compassion for others. Republicans and Conservatives- They believe that the people that voted against them are horrible people. The GOP/Conservatives accuse them of "wanting things", of "hating America", of being "Godless" or "Soulless", of being stupid and so on. The stark rankness of the bile and venom they are spewing marks them as having a personality disorder rather than just a political disagreement. “Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.” Benjamin Franklin |
