Voters In Miami-Dade Can Cast Ballots On Sunday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In an usual move, Miami-Dade Elections Department will allow voters to cast their ballots on Sunday.

While state law does not permit Early Voting on Sunday, the elections department is permitted to provide and accept absentee ballots.

In honor of the Early Voting hours offered on the last Sunday in 2008, voters can go to the Elections Department in Doral at 2700 NW 87th Avenue to vote by absentee ballot from 1pm-5pm.

The elections department said any voter who shows up in the allotted window will be able to vote by absentee ballot. The voter did not have to request an absentee ballot ahead of time.

Good news for a change coming from FL. Also says people in line at 5pm will still get to vote today!!

Last Updated: Sunday, November 04, 2012, 11:38 AM

ORLANDO --

A judge has ordered Orange County to open up early voting for four more hours today at one site.

The Florida Democratic Party filed lawsuits seeking more time for four counties before Election Day.

The Winter Park Library will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today for provisional ballots only, according to Orange County Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles.

I thought I heard that some people were still in line at 11 PM last night in Florida.

I don't doubt it, I've been seeing tweets of people saying they were in line up to 8 hours. Cutting the early voting days has created this.

<..> Voting in Miami-Dade County didn't wrap up until around 1 a.m. Sunday because voters standing in line when the polls closed were allowed to vote.
