You can now e-mail John Boehner (and Nancy Pelosi)
You can now e-mail John Boehner
By Mackenzie Weinger

http://www.congress.org/news/2011/01/13/...hn_boehner

-snip-

After former Speaker Nancy Pelosi passed Boehner the gavel, his office launched SpeakerBoehner@mail.house.gov to allow voters to easily contact him.
(also using a form at:
http://speaker.house.gov/Contact/ )

-snip-

The all-access mailbox originated with Pelosi during her first stint as Minority Leader five years ago. She invited people to e-mail her at AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov. Staffers read and evaluate the emails, and they even send responses to a lucky few.

-snip-

And just as the email operated during her tenure as both Minority Leader and Speaker, Hammill said AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov "will continue to serve as her way to hear from people across the country" in her new role.

As for Boehner's new e-mail address, Hammill noted the success of AmericanVoices likely inspired the Speaker's team.

Thanks. That reminded me to hunt up my district rep....he's a repub. He'll be hearing from me, he's one of those tea partiers. Oh woe is us.

thank you, Sass! especially for your being someone who will keep on after a repub rep, and a tea partier at that! so many just don't get it that they are our reps too, and we must keep after them, despite that, as you so rightly express, "Oh woe is us." i fear it is.

(i am sorry it took me until now to realize you had replied, Sass. i'm still having trouble figuring out how to find replies, short of having a photographic memory, which is not a possiblitiy here)

I'd suggest going to the User CP, then on the left under "Your Profile" click Edit Options.

On that page, look under Messaging and Notification. There's a drop-down box at the bottom of this section labeled Default Thread Subscription Mode: It probably says "Do not subscribe" now. Change this to "No email notification" and you will automatically "subscribe" to any threads you post in or start.

After that, you can click on the My Subscriptions link up top, and it will always show you a list of any threads you're subscribed to (i.e. that you've posted in). Threads with new replies will be bolder in color and have a "new" graphic symbol next to them. Click the "new" symbol, and it will take you to the first unread message in that thread since you last viewed it.

You can also subscribe to threads manually you have not replied in or that you replied in before setting this option. Or, if you simply do not want to set this option for all threads automatically, you can do it yourself. At the bottom of a thread's page, there's this small list of options on the left:

Click on "Subscribe to this thread" and it will show in your list of Subscribed Threads.

Finally, you can do this individually for a thread as you are composing a post. There's a Thread Subscription section below the editor with your options. What the process detailed first in this message does, in fact, is change the default option in this section.

thank you so very much for doing this for me, RoyGBiv! your clear, step-by-step guidance is great! here's hoping!

DFP is wonderful and beautiful, and i love being here, so it is extremely important to me to find my way, and to contribute all i possibly can. you are, again, generously helpful in making that possible.

I sent my rep...Bobby Schilling...an eye full. Told him I was appalled he voted to repeal HCR and that he was against closing Gitmo and bringing those prisoners to IL where we have a nice new prison to house them...and need the JOBS. Also told him I won't be voting for him in 2012 and that he is now to consider all his constituents...not just the ones who drink tea.

He hasn't replied. roflmao

very, very well said, Sass! excellent points!
it's great you did that!!
you set an important example for all in doing that. i am inspired by you (i had forgotten, in talking up our need to also contact repubs, that i'm now a senator brown constituent. i have been spoiled rotten by having kerry and kennedy!) i may borrow from your succinct style and comments, if i may?
thank you!

Thanks for this, nofurylike. It just occurred to me that no matter who the Dem Speaker of the House would have been in 2010 Midterm Elections..the repubs would have demonized them but Nancy came back with all her fighting spirit!
