On Friday night's episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, panelist Chris Matthews renewed his accusations against Republicans of racist campaigning, in a confrontation with right-wing radio host Roger Hedgecock
"There's a gentleman's agreement out there about covering up this racist game that your side has been playing this whole campaign," Matthews told Hedgecock. "Why do you talk about welfare? Why does Newt [Gingrich] talk about the 'food stamp president'? Why does it keep going to this old town again, this dog-whistle stuff."

ClapClapClap Matthews doesn't back off.

I wish that clip had gone on another 30 sec. I would like to have heard the point Maher was about to make.

I don't know when it happened, but at some point over the last year or so, it seems to me Chris Matthews decided he had enough of the nonsense. He's been on fire this year!

I think the blatant racism and the voter suppression got to him. He's on both subjects a lot.

Indeed, Jaxx - I've really appreciated Matthews not letting his guests get away with glib, glossy answers on how voter suppression is being fought in swing states. I've applauded as he's asked questions like, "I'm a sixty-five year old who doesn't drive and I live in a small town in Pennsylvania - who do I call to get my ID - where do I start - specifically?"

And Big Ed has also been asking questions in this vein, too. Kudos to both of them.

Looks like Tweety is doing good this year.

So true, that asshole just accused him of lying with nothing to go on - poor people do work. Just because you pay no federal income tax does not mean you don't work - it means you don't make enough.
