WATCH: Romney Thanks Anti-Gay Hate Group ‘For Their Leadership’

Mitt Romney Friday addressed the Values Voters Summit and thanked Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council “for their leadership.” The Family Research Council is an anti-gay hate group as certified by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and headed by Perkins. Although invited, Romney declined to attend the Values Voters Summit, a conservative conference sponsored by FRC and the American Family Association, also an anti-gay hate group. Friday, in an unscheduled and surprise move, Romney addressed the annual conference via this pre-recorded video. Paul Ryan, Romney’s running mate, attended and spoke at the Values Voters Summit Friday morning.

1) "Romney-bot" certainly describes this guy. And it continues to take my breath away to see how easily Romney will do a 180 away from - and then back again, if necessary - his previously-stated views.

WASHINGTON, DC — Family Research Council president Tony Perkins Saturday sought to tamp down complaints that Mitt Romney is ignoring social conservatives, rejecting the idea that the GOP nominee has "slighted" conservative voters even as he acknowledged “theological” differences with Romney.

<..> "I've been communicating regularly with the campaign," Perkins said. "I have met with the candidate. And I will say he even called me on the day that FRC was attacked in a shooting, he called to extend his condolences, his thoughts, his prayers for our team."

<..> "That does not mean that he is the one that I am most ideologically aligned with," Perkins said. "He and I, I've said this many times, I've said this to him, we share some significant theological differences when it comes to our personal faith."

<..> Romney's not appearing in person was a "major diss" and "inexcusable," conservative radio host Bryan Fischer told BuzzFeed yesterday.

Perkins sticks up for Willard because he's a repub....but the religious war looks to be continuing. Christian fringe vs Mormon and they need the votes.
