Pamphlets At Conservative Conference Urge Women To ‘Go Home And Put Some Clothes On’
By Adam Peck and Scott Keyes on Sep 14, 2012 at 12:10 pm

<..> In flyers and brochures on display at Values Voters, the social conservative conference where Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan spoke, an organization called Modesty Matters criticized women for dressing “immodestly” at church, and blamed women for causing men to stare lustfully at them.

Women must “embrace MODESTY in dress and behavior,” one of the handouts read. Women dressed immodestly in church are “an insult to a holy God,” another said.

<..> - From the “Modesty: It’s nothing to be ashamed of” pamphlet:“Since men are particularly visual, immodesty in church can trigger lustful thoughts.”

<..> The Family Research Council provided Modesty Matters with a table at the conference to distribute these pamphlets.

This is the place Ryan was pushing the "cause" today. Sickening.

That and you're nearest male relative.

I know women who rant about how Muslims treat women and are going to implement Sharia law, and then turn right around and support every crazy Christian assault on women that is the same as the craziest of Muslims.

How about men look at our eyes when they talk to us instead of our boobs? (yes, guys, we know where you're looking)

How about men think of us as intelligent human creatures capable of taking care of ourselves and living our own lives, thinking our own thoughts?

How about men stop thinking with their penis? Is that asking too much?

That's not only an insult to women but to men as well! Basically what they are saying is that men are too neanderthal to control themselves so it's up to women to make sure men are spared those "lustful" thoughts by covering themselves up.

What about men who walk around in tight jeans with shirts unbuttoned down to their bellybutton? Shouldn't they be chastised as well? Sexist pigs!

I agree, PT. It IS an insult to men as well. Are they saying that men are so unable to control themselves that it's up to women to control them? I think that's exactly what they are saying, and that in the end, once again, it is blaming the woman.

They are also ignoring the fact that it isn't just women who wear certain clothing that get raped. Older women get raped. NUNS get raped. Any woman walking around could potentially be the victim of a rape, and when it happens, it is not our fault.

And what about men who get raped? Is that again because they dress provocatively? Or is it because the encountered someone who is a sadistic asshole who decided to pick that man to be his victim? Once again, the victim, in these cases, males, would get the blame if they were raped.

These people are too twisted for color TV!

Silence is consent.

Yes, that is a good point too PT. Men can conduct themselves with control, those who can't don't need to attribute their faults to others.

A lot of these generalizations about men are IMO rationalizations - I can't help (whatever behavior) and so it must be "hard wired" into men and so all other men have to be the same for that to work.

They're blaming future victims for enticing the sex starved repubs. I wouldn't have done it if she hadn't asked for it.....you know where they are.
