Charles Pierce minces no words-'Paul Ryan: Murderer of Opportunity, Political Coward'
Dayum -- If Charles Pierce's (Esquire magazine) words were bramble branches, Ryan wouldn't have a shred of skin left on him after Pierce tells us exactly what he thinks of him:

Excerpt (this is just the warmup):
http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/pa...z23FJskLHW
Quote:Paul Ryan is an authentically dangerous zealot. He does not want to reform entitlements. He wants to eliminate them. He wants to eliminate them because he doesn't believe they are a legitimate function of government. He is a smiling, aw-shucks murderer of opportunity, a creator of dystopias in which he never will have to live. This now is an argument not over what kind of political commonwealth we will have, but rather whether or not we will have one at all, because Paul Ryan does not believe in the most primary institution of that commonwealth: our government. The first three words of the Preamble to the Constitution make a lie out of every speech he's ever given. He looks at the country and sees its government as something alien that is holding down the individual entrepreneurial genius of 200 million people, and not as their creation, and the vehicle through which that genius can be channelled for the general welfare.

Wow. Just wow.
Wow. Just wow. That's a surgical evisceration if I ever saw one.

It's a testament to how far hubby has given up on the GOP (you know, our formerly honorable opponents) that he rejoiced in the selection of Paul Ryan for VP candidate. He figures this is a ballsy choice -- but ballsy like Sarah Palin's was. Disastrous.

The only reason I do not rejoice is that ever since this country had Bush foisted on us twice, I believe anything can happen. Scared

I hear you, Hekate. The fact that Ryan is taken seriously anywhere outside of an Amway meeting is testament to how gullible "we" can be.

It's not our gullibility that worries me so much as GOP culpability. Since the 2000 election they've demonstrated that they believe they cannot win without cheating, and since the Supreme Court itself validated GOP methods in Bush vs. Gore, they've felt empowered to cheat in every possible way.

Forcing electronic voting machines onto cities, counties, and states was the perfect crime of opportunity after we witnessed "hanging chads"; as Stalin said, It doesn't matter who you vote for, it's who counts the votes. But lest we forget there are less-technological ways of suppressing votes, witness the wave of laws designed to overturn the 1964 Voting Rights Act by other names.

GOP: The criminal party.

Indeed - I believe the crucial difference this time is that after a decade of stolen elections, Democrats have finally stopped "pooh-poohing" the very idea that their friends across the aisle could actually be up to no good, and are taking voter suppression tactics very seriously.

The fact that the repubs actually selected Paul Ryan shows the depths of depravity that they've sunk to. The teabaggers and the rest of the rabid racist RW couldn't be happier. The rest of us--not so much.
