Tennessee State Rep. Claims Obama Will Fake Assassination To Prevent An Election

Tennessee state Rep. Kelly Keisling ® is spreading a conspiracy theory to his constituents that claims that President Obama will fake his own assassination to avoid an election against Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

<..> Keisling’s assistant, Frankie Anderson, confirmed that the email was sent “at Keisling’s request” from a state account under the name of Holt Whitt, who is identified in the email as Keisling’s assistant. Anderson said he is filling in for Whitt.[...]

<..> It’s unclear why Keisling would send to voters such a conspiracy theory based on race-baiting and paranoia, and his office would not offer any comment to the Huffington Post.

The Constitution Party of Florida also has the rumor posted on its website.

The 1st amendment should not protect liars who use the death of someone as the catalyst to inflame the people in the country.

Moore, who lives in an adjoining legislative district in rural Tennessee, told HuffPost that Keisling told her that the rumor was "pretty ridiculous, isn't it?"

When she asked Keisling why he sent the email, if he found it ridiculous, she said that Keisling told her, "I wouldn't put anything past anybody."

I don't know about Tennessee but here in Ohio it is illegal to use government accounts or equipment (ie computers) for other than government business.

Has this legislator broken Tennessee law?

Hekate, sometimes you just gotta keep on keepin' on.

I had a quickly organized meeting last week in Washington that renewed my faith in BHO and the campaign. They'll throw everything at us in their arsenal, but so far we're weathering the storm. If we manage to hold firm, all those billions on the radical right will realize who is the real keeper of their interests, and come around unless ALL polls start to swing for Romney--not likely.

Even the most stubborn of them knows deep down: if you want to live like a Republican, vote for a Democrat.
