NYPD lied in effort to embarrass Occupy Movement
NYPD was caught lying when it floated the story (spread far and wide by right wing controlled media) that DNA evidence linked OWS with the murder of Sarah Fox.

Turns out the DNA was that of a member of the NYPD who "accidentally" contaminated both pieces of evidence.

Quote:The first sample of DNA was collected from a CD player found near the Juilliard student’s nude body in Inwood Hill Park in 2004.
The second surfaced on a heavy chain that Occupy Wall Street activists used to prop open a subway gate during a day of protests in the transit system last March.
Revelations that the genetic material came from the same person suggested a possible new lead in the frustrating mystery.
But detectives are back at square one after determining the culprit was in the NYPD’s ranks.

The NYPD needs to be investigated about the whole OWS arrests, brutality, lies, etc.
I'm glad this came out because it shows how inept the PD is.

A more disturbing question is why did the NYPD run the test in the first place. Crime Investigation resources and money wasted on studying a chain used by the OWS seems like an abuse of power. Makes me wonder what sort of tests the NYPD performed on all the OWS tents and materials they got when they tore down their tent city.

My guess is they ran the tests to get a patsy. The whole interaction with OWS is suspect.

The NYPD Boasts They Thwarted 14 Terror Attacks -- Why They Are Full of B.S.

http://www.alternet.org/rights/156249/th...l_of_b.s./

From the article:
Quote:...
A review of the list shows a much more complicated reality — that the 14 figure overstates both the number of serious, developed terrorist plots against New York and exaggerates the NYPD's role in stopping attacks.

The list includes two and perhaps three clear-cut terrorist plots, including a failed attempt to bomb Times Square by a Pakistani-American in 2010 that the NYPD did not stop.

Of the 11 other cases, there are three in which government informants played a significant or dominant role (by, for example, providing money and fakes bombs to future defendants); four cases whose credibility or seriousness has been questioned by law enforcement officials, including episodes in which skeptical federal officials declined to bring charges; and another four cases in which an idea for a plot was abandoned or not pursued beyond discussion.

In addition, the NYPD itself does not appear to have played a major role in breaking up most of the alleged plots on the list. In several cases, it played no role at all.

...

Then, the NYPD has the unmitigated gall to be racist concern trolls and blame the victims in this article: NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly provokes blacks with murder comments
http://thegrio.com/2012/07/11/nyc-police...-comments/

No one cared about cramming black people into an area, then depriving them jobs and resources to live comfortably there, as long as they were away from "good society" and out of sight. Oppressed people did not cause their oppression nor do they like being oppressed. Nono
