I'd bet that want unlimited say in whether or not the EPA can go after polluters and whether or not the Treasury department can go after tax cheaters. If they get their way, there will no longer be restrictions on polluters, nor any scrutiny on dirty or hidden money. $1 billion will have been a very modest investment, indeed, if they get their way.

I agree with DFW
but I think it goes even further than that.

I think they want the Supreme Court, the House and the Senate. Think about all of the wars they could profit off of is Romney gets in? They would dictate U.S policy on everything. They are not satisfied with being some of the richest people in the world, they want to own the world.

What should happen to the Koch Brother Industry? If they own businesses that create a monoply then break them up.

This weekend Team Romney held a round of big dollar fundraisers out in the Hamptons, where New York’s rich and super-rich spend their weekends and summers. And if the word went out not to conform to stereotype, well … apparently no one got the word.

<..> A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. “I don’t think the common person is getting it,” she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. “Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them.

“We’ve got the message,” she added. “But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies — everybody who’s got the right to vote — they don’t understand what’s going on. I just think if you’re lower income — one, you’re not as educated, two, they don’t understand how it works, they don’t understand how the systems work, they don’t understand the impact.”

<..> A few cars back, Ted Conklin, the owner of the American Hotel in Sag Habor, N.Y., long a favorite of the well-off and well-known in the Hamptons, could barely contain his displeasure with Mr. Obama. “He is a socialist. His idea is find a problem that doesn’t exist and get government to intervene,” Mr. Conklin said from inside a gold-colored Mercedes as his wife, Carol Simmons, nodded in agreement.

Why do they have to "get something"?
They don't get paid for the hospitals and museums they've built and funded. They did it because they believed in doing it. They've made vast amounts of money through many different administrations and none, including Obama's, have slowed them down. There's little reason to believe money is their prim motivator. (There is reason to believe money is the prime motivator for many others, but most of them don't give much away.)

Do we insist on some personal payback for our programs? No. We just believe that this is the way things should be.

Why can't we accept that the Kochs, along with many others, simply have a vision for the country that is very different from ours? And that what they want is their idea of the way things should be.

To me, this would make them more frightening because they are on a mission, but it does take the battle in a different direction.
