Why Senator McConnell Is So Nervous
Published: July 7, 2012

America’s corporations and their executives are in grave danger, warns Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader. According to Mr. McConnell, if President Obama were to find out who was giving hundreds of millions to secretive groups running political attack ads, he would “punish and intimidate” them with all the governmental tools at his disposal.

This is not one of those laughable Internet conspiracy theories. The senator actually wrote this in an op-ed essay ( http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/edi...56046300/1 ) in USA Today on Thursday as his explanation of why the Disclose Act, which would end the practice of secret political donations, is “un-American” and an attempt to limit free speech.

<..> Mr. McConnell’s charge that the president has loosed the Internal Revenue Service on his enemies is breathtaking. After several years of indifference, the I.R.S. is finally examining whether these “social welfare” groups are abusing their tax-exempt status by spending anonymous donations on political attack ads. The senator compares them to the N.A.A.C.P., but Crossroads GPS and the like exist for no other purpose than to run political ads.

That is a clear violation of the tax code, which says political activity cannot be their primary purpose. The I.R.S. is doing its job, at long last, and that’s what has Republican leaders like Mr. McConnell so worried.

That's two editorials by the NYT going after the repubs. Shocked
McConnell is shilling for the corps who are afraid they'll be boycotted.

Orwellian.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

And if McConnell can't get his way he'll stamp his little turtle feet and pull into his shell, so there.

Watching part of his b.s. session with Candy Crowley
I am amazed at how these "conservatives" manage to continue to preach their "supply-side economics" crap. They no longer refer to it as that, but they continue to cling to the same script of bald faced lies.

And I was amazed as I watched this guy earlier this morning on Chris Hayes' Up talking over Chris and pushing the same old "conservative" tax mythology.

And people buy into this zombie ideology? It never dies, no matter how much damage they do.

They drove us into another depression. A depression, for God's sake. We didn't go totally over the cliff because we did exactly what Keynes said we had to do. What will it take for people to see that they're being lied to by these "conservatives?"

Should we have let them double down and drive us into the abyss?

Unfuckingbelievable. And when you talk to these "conservatives" it goes in one ear and out the other without a damn thing slowing it down.

I wonder if something else is going on
I am starting to get a feeling that the New York Times and others are getting pressured to start publishing these attacks against the Repugs. Companies are even more profittable then they were under Junior, why would they rock the boat of making money?

Here is a theory I have been mulling

Is it possible that they are so dissatisifed with Romney, his flip flops, he would be an international policy disaster, he is using all of the same old tire hacks from previous administrations, he has been running for 6 years and has no plan for anything....

Could it be that they know he is going to lose, they know the TeaRepugs are done in November, is it possible they are ready to clean house?

McConnel and others have doubled down and bet against the country and the American people....how do they recover from that?

Random thoughts....Shrug

Given that lots of Republicans, like Jeb Bush, Huckabee, Posner are saying these kinds of things might indicate that you're correct, Maddie.
