Quote:Americans Say They're Better Off Since Obama Took Office

"Forty-five percent of those surveyed in a Bloomberg National Poll say they are better off than at the beginning of 2009 compared with 36 percent who say they are worse off. In March, poll respondents split almost evenly on that question after having been decidedly negative since the aftermath of the worst recession in seven decades.

“I’m just tired of the doom and gloom,” says Jim Seeley, 52, a mortgage banker in Traverse City, Michigan, and a poll respondent, in a follow-up interview. “I think it’s looking better. People just need to stay positive.”

The poll, conducted June 15-18, contains more unlikely cheer for the president, with larger numbers of respondents saying their household income is higher than a year ago. While 44 percent say they are treading water, the better off outnumbered the worse off by 28 percent to 22 percent."

Well, well...Romney may want to start looking around for another ridiculous question for his campaign to tout.

A little proof of the pudding

I know we are a lot better off now.. When the President took office we were in the start of a tailspin and no life-line in sight..

Thoughtful responses are the first victims of partisan passions.

If people just considered the added benefits from the health care act, they'd know we're all better off. But I think the economy turned a corner. Last month the jobs number was skewed because of a jump in people coming into the job market, which I think was right wingers lying to the pollers, but that's probably just me being cynical. Unemployment has dropped 3-4 points in Oregon and that's definitely a good sign overall. If the logging counties would just shift their economies to something modern and sustainable, the whole state would be better off. That's probably true of a lot of counties across the country.
