Barrett's prospects for an upset look better than they have in a long time (PPP Poll)
PPP's final poll on the Wisconsin recall finds Scott Walker ahead, but also a race that's tightening. Walker leads Tom Barrett 50-47. That's down from 50-45 on a PPP poll conducted three weeks ago and it's also down from a 52-45 lead that Walker posted in a Marquette Law poll released last week.

Barrett is actually winning independent voters by a 48-46 margin. The reason he continues to trail overall is that Republicans are more excited about voting in Tuesday's election than Democrats are. (WHAT???) Our projected electorate voted for Barack Obama by only 7 points, even though he took the state by 14 in 2008. If the folks who turn out on Tuesday actually matched the 2008 electorate, Barrett would be ahead of Walker by a 50-49 margin. It's cliche but this is a race that really is going to completely come down to turnout.

God damn it - the campaign to discourage Democrats is working - for fucks sake you sorry assed sad faced Democrats - GET THE FUCK OUT THERE AND VOTE!!!!!!!!!

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

I hope the ground supporters are successful in getting people to the polls. Walker can be beat.

It is truly bizarre that after all this, Democrats would not be chomping at the bit to throw out that complete Koch stooge. How much more does Walker have to get caught doing and saying to convince people he needs to go?

So earlier polls that show Walker in the lead are used to discourage Democrats, make them think it's a waste of time to vote, and depress voter turnout. This is an example of the worst way polls are used to manipulate elections rather than report on them. We'd be better off without them.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about a Barrett win tomorrow.

RE: Barrett's prospects for an upset look better than they have in a long time (PPP Poll)
Back in 2004, my European friends here in NATO-land asked me what I thought would be the outcome of the 2004 presidential race. I said I thought Kerry would win the election and Bush would remain in office. Before the election, they couldn't understand what I meant. After the election, they understood only too well.

I'm hoping mightily this will be different, but they are making this their Waterloo, the one they dare not lose. There is already an intimidation of team of professional election disruptors from Texas on the ground in Wisconsin. Their job is to scare Democrats away from the polls. Rove and the Kochs have poured tens of millions into this race, and the DNC and DFA can't match it.

Walker deserves a cell at Leavenworth, not the Governor's mansion, but the Kochs and Rove will lose something with Walker that they can't afford to lose: their credibility. If they lose this, extremist Republicans from coast to coast will see that for all their money, they can't be relied on to steal an election when it matters. I predict there will be violent assaults, physical intimidation, and fraudulent ballot-counting, all to the benefit of Walker.

There will be tears at the Barrett HQ tomorrow night. Whether of joy of disappointment, I don't dare predict, but if we win, it will be despite a tidal wave of crooked machination on Walker's behalf. I only wish Eric Holder had an out of state National Guard unit at every major polling spot in Wisconsin to arrest and lock up every illegal thug Walker and the Kochs have hired for this day. Cowards always retreat when they realize their opponents can and will shoot back.

Indeed, DFW, and let's not forget that if everything is truly in the toilet for Walker, et al., no doubt there will be a Republican election official in the hole somewhere who will suddenly remember that they "forgot" to count 50,000 votes in Walker's favor.

Wisconsin Recall: U.S. Department Of Justice To Monitor Elections

The Huffington Post | By Amanda Terkel Posted: 06/04/2012 2:06 pm Updated: 06/04/2012 5:25 pm

MILWAUKEE -- The U.S. Department of Justice plans to monitor the recall elections in Wisconsin on Tuesday, and will dispatch a team of federal observers to the city of Milwaukee.

The observers will be ensuring that the city complies with the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination in the electoral process on the basis of race, color or membership in a minority language group.

There are six recall elections taking place on June 5 for governor, lieutenant governor and four state senators.

Wisconsin's Department of Justice is also sending a team of assistant attorneys general and special agents from the Division of Criminal Investigation to 12 cities in an effort to prevent voter fraud.

I saw somewhere else that they will be watching for the voting officials to ask for a photo ID.....which isn't on the books in WI. That's what they were doing in the last election! Creeps.

Well, that's mostly good news, but I have a question. When you said "they will be watching" do you mean the DOJ and the WDOJ will be doing that? If so, that doesn't make sense if there is no law on the books for that.

From what I read, at the May voting the people at the tables were still asking for ID's....which they can't do.

Thanks jaxx! I hope the attorneys from the two DOJ's are really on the lookout for that kind of thing too.

The fact that they got it to a recall should make the repubs take notice. Not everyone is going to be nice and let a disliked politician that overstepped his bounds have a full term.
