Republican Senator Mark Kirk accused of illegal payments to girlfriend
This sounds pretty similar to what John Edwards was prosecuted for.

Quote:A complaint sent to the Federal Election Commission by the former wife of Senator Mark Steven Kirk of Illinois claimed Mr. Kirk may have violated campaign finance law during a 2010 race to fill President Obama’s former Senate seat.

Kimberly Vertolli, a lawyer who received $40,000 from the campaign, filed the complaint about her former husband in November 2011, according to The Chicago Tribune, which first reported the allegation on Tuesday.

It accused Mr. Kirk, 52, of improperly hiding more than $143,000 in fees and expenses to his then-girlfriend, Dodie McCracken, for her work during the race by funneling it through another company working for the campaign, the newspaper reported.

Apparently, Kirk used his campaign fund to pay his ex-wife AND his girlfriend. At the same time?

Kirk getting elected was a fluke. It would be nice if we don't have to wait until 2016 to replace him.

Oh boy, that would be something if he did funnel money to the gf. Another goody-two-shoes teabagger found playing with the money. I can't wait to hear how this comes along.

There is already an inquiry on Aaron Schock taking campaign money for personal use. http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/rom...3/31/37386

He's not acting, is he? I thought he was recovering still?

He hasn't returned to the Senate since his stroke.

Supposed to have limited use of arm and leg on one side. I do wish him a full recovery, but that has nothing to do with his money antics.
